The next generation M5 is set to become one of the most memorable M5s to date. The extensive on and off track testing is testament to BMWs commitment to making the M5 the best in class.

This particular video compliments our high resolution still shots (http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=429574) and shows off the superb body control and you get a taste of the engine growl as well.

The M5 is set to make its world debut at the 2011 Geneva autoshow as the "BMW Concept M5", which would be a near production identical version of the car to show off at various shows ahead of the official production car launch in Frankfurt.

The car will be a 2012 MY vehicle and be powered by a special version fo the S63 V8 that is currently used in the X5 and X6 M albeit with further refinements and increased power output to make this the top car in the M car lineup alongside the next M6.

This is the anticipated reveal/sales schedule:

March 2011 - Visual concept M5 revealed @ 2011 Geneva Motor Show
Summer 2011 - Official Launch
September 2011 - First worldwide public appearance @ 2011 Frankfurt IAA
November 2011 - First European customers take delivery
Spring 2012 - First US customers take delivery

I like the flashing brake lights...smart feature.
That looks like a great handling car, very firm. Yeah i like the flashing brake lights too when they press hard on the brakes, i guess to let the person behind know that its braking hard to almost an immediate stop.

I bet they won't pass US regulations. Seems too coplike
that thing sounds like a monster. Awesome vid.
It looks fast but definitely doesn't sound as good as the V10.
looks like a very good handling car. i miss the NA engine sound though
looks very planted, with minimal body roll!!
lol, the "flashing brakelight" isn't flashing. they're LED and due to video camera's refresh rate/cycling it appears that they're flashing when they're not. it's just camera distortion, lol.
Sounds great, much better than the X5/X6 M I think...

And it is loud aswel!!! :confused0068:

Lol, no.

It's a safety feature...the eye and brain will register what's happening more quickly with a flashing light as opposed to the standard solid brake light.
Thats hot.I want a ride into a new M5.
It looks hot and sounds very fast, but you have to miss the venerable V10!

Exactly. These adaptive brake lights have been standard on European BMW models for some time. I wonder why this feature hasn't been introduced in the US yet.

Best regards,

Very good video - the sound is a real delight to hear.

+1
sweeeeeeet!
This car should eat the M3 GTS. Not that it's a big deal as the two cars have different duty, but BMW really should make the M6 in another level and put a big gap between the M5 this time. Both in acceleration and handling.

The car sounds pretty good for a none n/a V8.
